Official Clarification Regarding Certain Information Pertaining to the School of Business and Management (HSB), Vietnam National University, Hanoi

OFFICIAL STATEMENT CLARIFYING CERTAIN INFORMATION CONCERNING THE HANOI SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT (HSB), VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HANOI
Dear Students, Postgraduate Students, Parents, and All Those Interested in Recent Information Concerning the Hanoi School of Business and Management (HSB),
First and foremost, the School would like to express its sincere appreciation for your interest in its activities. To address several matters of public concern regarding HSB's academic programmes, tuition fees, and scholarship policies, the School hereby provides the following official clarification:
Established in 1995, HSB was granted a special autonomous status in academic, human resource, and financial affairs. This autonomy has enabled HSB to become Vietnam's first autonomous public higher education institution to achieve the QS 5 Stars certification, with eight bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programmes accredited in accordance with European standards.
(1) Academic Programmes:
Four undergraduate programmes and four postgraduate programmes at HSB have undergone evaluation by ACQUIN, an international accreditation agency based in the Federal Republic of Germany, against the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) since 2023. These accreditation results have also been acknowledged and published by the Quality Management Agency under the Ministry of Education and Training in its official list of evaluated and accredited academic programmes.
ACQUIN is an internationally reputable accreditation agency with extensive experience in evaluating thousands of higher education programmes across numerous countries. During the period in which HSB undertook its accreditation process, ACQUIN was completing the procedures required for recognition of its operations in Vietnam. The agency was officially recognised by the Ministry of Education and Training under Decision No. 138/QD-BGDDT dated 9 January 2024.
In 2025, HSB's academic programmes were further confirmed by ACQUIN as meeting the relevant accreditation requirements, with their accreditation certificates extended until 2029 or 2030, depending on the programme.
(2) Tuition Fees:
Tuition fees for HSB's academic programmes are determined in accordance with the Government's regulations governing the collection and management of tuition fees at higher education institutions. Under these regulations, undergraduate programmes that have achieved recognised quality accreditation standards are entitled to determine their own tuition fees rather than being subject to the general tuition fee ceilings prescribed by the State. HSB's proposals for the establishment of its academic programmes have been approved by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in conjunction with requirements for investment in academic staff, learning facilities, educational activities, and quality assurance in accordance with international accreditation standards.
The School consistently regards the quality of education and the student learning experience as fundamental priorities that must be commensurate with the tuition fees charged. Information regarding tuition fees is publicly disclosed by HSB during each admissions cycle, enabling prospective students and their parents to make informed decisions and select programmes appropriate to their needs.
(3) Scholarship Policies:
HSB has always regarded scholarships as a practical means of encouraging academic effort, recognising achievements, and supporting students facing financial difficulties. The School proactively allocates resources for scholarships within the framework of its financial autonomy, with the aim of providing additional opportunities for students to pursue their education and personal development.
In addition to scholarship policies based on academic performance and student conduct, since the 2024–2025 academic year, HSB has implemented a scholarship policy for students who are children or grandchildren of war invalids and fallen soldiers from different historical periods, reflecting the School's gratitude and responsibility towards the community. HSB deeply values the trust placed in it by students and their families and recognises that the effective management of scholarship resources and the protection of students' legitimate rights and interests constitute important responsibilities of the School.
HSB recognises that institutional autonomy provides opportunities for the School to proactively pursue innovation and development, while simultaneously requiring increasingly high standards of accountability and governance capacity. In a spirit of openness and constructive engagement, the School takes seriously the conclusions, feedback, and requirements of the relevant regulatory authorities and remains committed to continuously improving its governance practices, enhancing educational quality, and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of students.
HSB sincerely thanks you for your interest in and attention to the School!
