Programme Overview

Master in Management of Non-traditional Security (MNS) is a highly interdisciplinary and pioneering programme in Southeast Asia, focused on nontraditional security challenges and equipping students with governance tools to devise solutions across all security domains.

The programme addresses human security, economic security, financial security, food security, environmental security, and other areas of nontraditional security. Students choose one of three specialisation tracks aligned with their career goals.

Admission Process

A two-step admission process combining application screening with an in-depth competency assessment.

Application Screening
A comprehensive review of applicant documents — including personal statement, work experience, and academic qualifications — to ensure alignment with programme standards and VNU regulations.

Competency Assessment
An in-depth interview with the Admissions Council — assessing motivation, learning objectives, practical experience, research capacity, and readiness for this research-oriented programme.
Entry Requirements

Academic Background

Bachelor's degree in Security, Law, Management, Economics, IT, or a related field. Applicants from other fields may be required to complete foundational supplementary courses as stipulated by VNU.

Language Proficiency

English certificate equivalent to Level 3 of the Vietnamese 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework (e.g., IELTS 5.5); or a bachelor's/master's degree completed abroad in English.

Work Experience

Preference is given to applicants with experience in: security, public administration, military, judiciary, corporate, or organisations related to nontraditional security fields.
