Professional Development Programmes
HSB is committed to the long-term growth of its academic and administrative community. The following programmes are designed to enhance teaching quality, research skills and academic leadership capacity.
Higher Education Teaching Certificate
Standardises university pedagogical competencies under the VNU framework, covering curriculum design, course assessment and active learning methodologies.
Faculty Exchange Scholarship
Opportunity to teach for 1–2 semesters at international partners including NUS, Deakin, Hanyang and European universities under existing exchange agreements.
Conference Travel Support
Full or partial funding for attendance at international academic conferences where the faculty member has a paper accepted for oral or poster presentation.
Academic Leadership Development
Designed for heads, deputy heads and mid-level academic managers. Focuses on university leadership, academic management and curriculum governance skills.
Sabbatical Programme
Research leave of 1–2 semesters for faculty with 7+ years continuous service, enabling focused completion of major scholarly works or international research projects.
Digital Skills & EdTech Training
Short courses on EdTech applications in teaching, learning analytics, e-learning content creation and AI tools for research and course administration.
Teaching Support Programmes
Early-Career Faculty Mentoring
A 1-to-1 mentoring programme pairing experienced senior faculty (mentors) with newly appointed staff (mentees) over two semesters, including class observation, curriculum feedback and research guidance.
HSB Teaching Excellence Award
Awarded annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding innovation in teaching practice, assessed through student evaluations, peer review and the Academic Council.
Doctoral Study Sponsorship
HSB sponsors and co-funds doctoral scholarships at overseas universities for early-career faculty without a PhD, with priority given to partner institutions and disciplines with talent shortages.
Annual Curriculum Development Workshop
An annual workshop led by the Academic Affairs Office to review and update course content in line with labour market trends, AACSB accreditation standards and industry feedback.
Sabbatical & Academic Exchange
Faculty with 7+ years of continuous service are eligible for 1–2 semesters of research leave to complete major scholarly work, pursue international collaborations or undertake advanced study at partner universities.
Under agreements with 19+ international partners, HSB facilitates semester-long teaching exchanges in Europe, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Australia.
HSB provides administrative and financial support for faculty candidates pursuing Associate Professor and Professor titles through the national academic title evaluation process.
Supports 2–4 week academic visits to partner universities for research collaboration, data collection or attendance at international specialist seminars.
